If you're an adventure seeker or a nature lover planning a trip to Northern Norway, then Gorsabrua in Kåfjorddalen is a must-visit destination. This spectacular bridge offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and is sure to leave you in awe of Norway's natural beauty. Gorza Canyon is northern Europes deepest canyon (App. 150 meters), and a huge 140 meters tall waterfall named Gorzi falls to the bottom of the canyon. A pedestrian bridge ( Gorsabrua ) spans 53 meters over the canyon and with more than 140 meters over to the canyon river.
Gorsabrua - Gorsa Bridge connects the landscapes on each side of Gorza canyon. In summer season there will be bungee jumping several weekends.
Gorsabrua is situated in Kåfjorddalen, a picturesque valley in the Troms og Finnmark region of northern Norway. The bridge is easily accessible from Tromsø, the largest city in Northern Norway. Here are the general steps to reach Gorsabrua:

Gorsabrua: A Stunning Bridge in Kåfjorddalen, Norway

Flight: If you're traveling from abroad or a distant location within Norway, you can fly to Tromsø Airport (TOS). The airport is well-connected to major cities in Europe and other parts of Norway.

Car Rental: After arriving in Tromsø, it is recommended to rent a car to reach Gorsabrua. Having a vehicle will provide you with the flexibility to explore at your own pace.

Route: From Tromsø, you can drive straight to Birtavarre which is the center off Kåfjorddalen, and from there to Gorsa bridge parking. Remember to drive north and follow E8 from Nordkjosbotn app. 1 hour from Tromsø.
When you get to Skibotn, go north on E6. Also important if you are coming from Finland.
Alternatively you can take the E8 highway eastwards, driving for approximately 75 kilometers (46 miles) to reach Lyngseidet. Once in Lynseidet, you'll board a ferry to Olderdalen. The ferry ride itself is a scenic experience, crossing the beautiful Lyngenfjord. From Olderdalen, continue on the E6 highway southwards until you reach Gorsabrua, which is about 22 kilometers (14 miles) away. The closest campsite with cabins is only 18 kilometers from Olderdalen, Basecamp Birtavarre.

Route: From Alta, drive straight to Birtavarre on E6 south from Alta.

Public Transportation: While renting a car is the most convenient option, there might be limited public transportation available in the area. Check the latest schedules and options for buses or ferries from Tromsø to Kåfjorddalen.

Parking:
Gorsabrua is a popular tourist spot, and fortunately, there is a designated parking area available for visitors. After crossing the the bridge over Tørrfossen, you'll soon find a parking lot where you can safely leave your vehicle before embarking on the 1.8 km hike to the Gorsabrua.

Hiking to Gorsabrua:
To reach Gorsabrua, you'll need to undertake a moderately challenging hike through the Norwegian wilderness, adding an adventurous element to your visit. The hike is approximately 1.8 kilometers each way and takes about 1-2 hours, depending on your pace.

The trail is well-marked and maintained, but it's essential to wear appropriate hiking gear and sturdy shoes, as the terrain can be uneven and rocky. As you make your way through the valley, you'll be surrounded by breathtaking mountains, glistening rivers, and lush greenery, making the journey itself an unforgettable experience.

About Gorsabrua:
Gorsabrua, also known as Gorsa Bridge, is an impressive pedestrian bridge that spans over the Gorsa Gorge. The bridge's height and location provide an incredible view of the Gorsa River as it flows through the deep valley below. The Gorzi waterfall is just on the side of the bridge! The daring design of the bridge gives visitors a feeling of walking through the heart of nature, making it a prime spot for photographers and thrill-seekers alike.

Safety Precautions:
While Gorsabrua offers a mesmerizing experience, safety should always be a priority. Here are a few safety tips:

Stay on the marked trail and designated areas.
Be cautious while taking photos near the edge of the bridge.
Do not attempt to climb or cross any barriers for better views.
Respect the environment and take your trash with you.
Check the weather forecast before starting your hike and avoid the trail during harsh weather conditions.
In conclusion, Gorsabrua in Kåfjorddalen, Norway, promises an exhilarating and visually rewarding adventure. From the scenic drive through Norwegian landscapes to the awe-inspiring hike and the breathtaking views from the bridge itself, it's an experience you'll cherish forever. Just remember to plan your trip well, stay safe, and leave no trace as you explore this remarkable natural wonder.
